The L-J Ranch mother herd of Hereford Cattle has been established in the Bayfield area for nearly 100 years.
We pride ourselves in the highest quality genetics of the breed and work the herd by horse & hand, the way it’s been done for centuries. Our cattle spend their entire lives on grass as they winter on the home pastures at L-J Ranch and spend their summers in the high country overlooking Vallecito Lake. We believe in raising our cattle from start to finish, in the most humane and gentle way and are grateful to sell our harvest locally to families who value knowing where their food comes from.
OFFERINGS:
We offer Grass Finished Ground Beef and Chorizo Ground Beef by the pound year-round.
Most of our customers reach out to place an order for pickup here on the Ranch at your convenience. You can also find us at the Bayfield Farmers Market as rotational vendors throughout the summer season or look for our vintage school bus parked at the top of the Ranch at our Roadside Market!
Beef Share Program – Purchasing beef in bulk, directly from ranchers like us, is called beef shares.
Simply put, you get enough meat to fill your freezer and you pay less per pound than you pay at your local grocery store. You pay the same price per pound for Rib Eye steaks and Prime Rib roast as you do for Ground Beef. We harvest three times a year and sell out fast, please get in touch to check availability.
